This is an 11×14 watercolor painting.
If you know the Chinese zodiac, you know this is the Year of the Horse.
Horses are often painted as symbols of work, battle, or speed, but in this piece, I wanted the horse to simply be a friend. A lifetime companion.
The girl is a Qing Yi (青衣) from Beijing opera - quiet strength, grace, and restraint. I didn’t add any background on purpose. I wanted her to stand for peace and determination, moving forward with her horse, side by side. No rush. No conflict. Just faith, calm, and resolve.
This is how I want to walk through this Year of the Horse:
with nothing but peace in my heart, determination in my steps, and a trusted companion beside me.
